Puerto Vallarta is one of the top tourist destinations in Mexico – and for a good reason. With gorgeous beaches, lush mountains, and a charming historic center, guests can enjoy the best of both worlds when it comes to nature and culture. 

If you’re in the process of planning a trip here, you have probably noticed that there are dozens of resorts to choose from. This can be confusing, especially if you’ve never stayed at any all-inclusive hotels in Puerto Vallarta before.

To help point you in the right direction, I’ll be sharing five of the best all-inclusive hotels in Mexico. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly resort, a luxurious all-inclusive property, or an intimate oceanfront resort right on the beach, Puerto Vallarta has something for every budget and travel style. 

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta

The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is easily one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Puerto Vallarta. They have something for everyone – gourmet bars and restaurants for foodies, five infinity pools for sunbathers, and tons of great activities for kids. I’d say the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta is “family-friendly luxury,” which means it has the top-notch service and amenities of an upscale all-inclusive with the fun, laid-back vibe of a family resort. 

Not only is the hotel surrounded by the lush rainforest of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, but it also has a private beach just steps away. And best of all, every single room at the Hyatt has ocean-facing rooms, so you can wake up to those sparkling blue waters in the morning. 

Activity-wise, you’ll have a packed itinerary of options to choose from during the day. Start with a morning fitness class like paddle yoga or Zumba. Then meet new friends while you play a game of volleyball or soccer on the beach. If you prefer something a little more relaxing, you can always spend your days lounging by the pool or kayaking in the ocean. 

And don’t worry about your little ones! There’s a complimentary kids club where they can participate in arts & crafts, indoor/outdoor games, and nature programs. 

The dining options at the Hyatt are outstanding, especially for a Puerto Vallarta all-inclusive. There’s an international buffet, four specialty restaurants (Latin American, Italian, Mexican, Vietnamese/Thai), and five bars and lounges.

My favorite is the Playa Bar, which is located directly on the beach (the margaritas here are fantastic). 

In summary, this resort is a great option for all types of travelers. While there are plenty of fun things for kids, it would also be an excellent destination for honeymooners and groups.

Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta

Whether you’re here for a short weekend or a weeklong vacation, the Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta is guaranteed to be your home away from home. Despite being one of the older hotels in Puerto Vallarta’s hotel zone, this is still one of the top all-inclusive resorts thanks to its intimate atmosphere and stellar customer service. Location-wise, you’ll also be 10 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta and just three minutes from the La Isla shopping center for restaurants and nightlife.

But, in my honest opinion, there’s so much at the hotel that you won’t need to leave at all during your stay. There’s a huge pool at this resort with a swim-up bar and child’s area, a fitness center, a spa, and daily outdoor activities like yoga, fishing, and dance lessons. This beachfront all-inclusive also has five al la carte restaurants and a buffet, so you can indulge in gourmet Italian, Mexican, or Asian dishes every night of the week. 

If you’re traveling with young kids, you can also sign them up for the kids club, so you can enjoy a round of golf or the adults-only Sonne Beach Club. Older kids and teens can also hang out in the teen lounge (so they can also meet friends without being too embarrassed by mom or dad).

Rooms are spacious and vary in size and arrangement depending on how many people you are traveling with. Couples can enjoy pristine ocean views from a King Suite or Honeymoon Suite, while families can sprawl out in the 688-square-foot Family Suite (sleeps up to six). 

Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta

If you’re planning a romantic vacation or relaxing getaway without the kids, then look no further than the Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta. Everything about this AAA Five Diamond hotel is marvelous, from the designer suites to the breathtaking rooftop infinity pool. And the location is absolutely stunning! You’ll be situated in the middle of the jungle, just a short walk or trolley ride to Banderas Bay. 

The rooms are divided into two towers (North and South) and come decked out with contemporary furnishings and personal terraces with ocean views and jetted private plunge pools. If you really want to live like a VIP, you can also book one of their Ultra Suites or Penthouses for more space and exclusive butler service. 

There are so many interesting resort amenities, like snorkeling, wine tasting, jungle treks, and kayaking tours. They even have a unique “catch of the day” activity, where you can buy fresh fish from the local fishermen at the beach, and the resort chef will prepare a meal right before your eyes!

But that’s not the only dining option you have. Your all-inclusive experience includes unlimited meals and drinks at the six on-site restaurants and bars, as well as 24-hour room service. This plan also allows you to dine at the neighboring Garza Blanca Preserve Resort and the TierraLuna Gardens shopping and event complex.

Velas Vallarta

With ten acres of golden sands at your doorstep, the Velas Vallarta Suite Resort is one of the best resorts in Puerto Vallarta (namely the Marina Vallarta and Vista Vallarta area). You’re just a ten-minute walk from the swanky harbor (it’s worth visiting at least once to see all the expensive yachts!) as well as the two different golf courses. And downtown Puerto Vallarta can be easily reached with just a short cab ride too. 

This resort is a great option for groups or families, as they have studio, 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom suites to accommodate large parties. Every room at the Velas Vallarta comes with a kitchen or kitchenette, although you won’t need to cook at all, considering your all-inclusive rate comes with unlimited food and drink. Every Sunday, the resort hosts Mexican Night, where you can enjoy a mouthwatering buffet with live music, folk dancing, and a handicraft market. 

During the day, you can relax on the gorgeous Mexican beach or at one of the two swimming pools. There’s a full schedule of daily activities and things to do in Mexico that you can participate in, like volleyball, water aerobics, cooking classes, and walking tours. They also have a full gym, spa, and tennis courts. Golf isn’t included in your package, but guests do get discounted tee times at both the Marina Vallarta Golf Club and Vista Vallarta Golf Clubs.

The on-site kids club is complimentary and open for children between the ages of 4 and 12. It’s open from 10 am until 8 pm, giving your kid a full day to play games, make art, do sports, and make lifelong friends! Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta is an adults-only resort nestled on the pristine shores of Las Glorias Beach. This resort is the epitome of luxury, making it a top choice for honeymooners and couples. It’s also a popular spot for destination weddings, as the resort has a full wedding planning team to help you make your dream day come true.

There are only 271 suites, each one with dramatic ocean views and a private terrace or balcony. Rooms will either have a private hot tub or swim-up access to the pool outside, which is a huge perk compared to other hotels in Puerto Vallarta. And they are extremely spacious, with the most basic room clocking in at 583 square feet. 

While most people come here for the amazing beach and pool area, others come for the exhilarating activities. Snorkeling, tennis, volleyball, archery, and water polo are just a few fun things you can do during your stay. The program of nightly entertainment is also impressive. The resort offers themed party nights, live shows, and open-air movies to keep you occupied all evening long.

And for food, you’ll have your choice of eating at one of the 11 restaurants on the property. Enjoy an elegant night of French fine dining, fresh seafood on the beach, or trendy Pan-Asian cuisine at the teppanyaki table – all of them are simply amazing! You’re also more than welcome to dine at any of the bars and restaurants at the Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort, which is located right next door.
